MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION FORM

Membership of the South Asian Sociological Society (SASS) is open to all individuals who hold an interest in the discipline of sociology and in the sociological issues of South Asia. SASS welcomes scholars, students, researchers, and institutions to join the community at any time during the year.

The Society proudly includes a growing network of members, consisting of Life Members, Ordinary Members, Student Members, and Institutional Members, along with an active representation from international scholars across various countries.

The membership year follows the January–December cycle, and all membership fees are to be paid in advance—preferably during the month of January—to ensure uninterrupted access to SASS activities, publications, and academic engagements.

Benefits of Life Members

Life Members are entitled to a 20% discount on conference registration fees.
The likelihood of their research papers being considered for publication is enhanced.
Members are granted access to the Journal of the South Asian Sociological Society.
Members become eligible for voting rights after completion of six years of membership.
After two years, members possessing suitable academic credentials may be considered for inclusion in the National Committee.
Members enjoy enhanced prospects for consideration under various award categories.

Benefits of Ordinary Membership

Ordinary Members are entitled to a 10% discount on conference registration fees during the period of active membership.
Members enjoy a higher likelihood of consideration of their research papers for publication in the Journal of the South Asian Sociological Society.
Access to the Journal of the South Asian Sociological Society is provided throughout the membership period.
Members become eligible for consideration for inclusion in the National Committee after completion of four years, subject to renewal of Ordinary Membership for an additional four-year term.
