Purpose of Constitution
The South Asian Sociological Society (SASS) is a non-profit professional association for
scientific purposes. Its function is to represent Academicians/Sociologists everywhere, regardless
of their school of thought, scientific approaches or ideological opinion.
Objective of Constitution
The objectives for which the Society is established are as follows:
a) The goal of the Society is to advance scientific/sociological knowledge throughout the
world. In its structure, the Society recognizes the aspirations of academicians/sociologists
in parts of the South Asia and endeavors to support and strengthen the free development
of scientific interdisciplinary and transdicplinary knowledge in cooperation with similar
associations/societies of social scientists/ academician across discipline/subject.b) To secure and develop institutional and personal contacts between sociologists and
other social scientists and academia’s throughout the south Asia
c) To encourage the international dissemination and exchange of information on
developments in sociological and scientific and trans-disciplinary knowledge.
d) To facilitate and promote international research and training.
e) To pursue and promote the study of societal and scientific issues and sociological
knowledge creation.
f) To disseminate knowledge through lecture, publication and such other means bearing
on social and sociological issues.
g) To conduct and publish at least two issues, per year, Journal of the South Asian
Sociological Society, E-Journal and E-Newsletter.
h) To publish brochures, newsletters and books to achieve the above goals.
e) To hold conference, including Research Committee, and organise Memorial Lecture
for disseminating knowledge on various fields of the discipline in furtherance of the
above.
